About the position

The Manager, Portfolio Analysis - Commercial Lending is responsible for leading a team of Portfolio Analysts and overseeing the analysis of business processes and workflows to effectively manage portfolio risk. This role involves monitoring the credit quality of the loan portfolio in accordance with established procedures and regulatory guidelines. The Manager will ensure optimal operations through continuous process improvement and technical enhancements that align with the organization's objectives. In this position, you will lead a high-performing team by employing effective people leadership practices, which include regular communication of performance expectations and providing constructive feedback to maintain high team performance. You will also be responsible for coaching team members and taking corrective action when necessary, while actively supporting their professional growth and development. Additionally, the Manager will implement all necessary audit and compliance changes as required by new or amended regulations, ensuring that audit and examination requirements are met. You will be expected to meet established department goals and keep leadership updated on major projects, employee issues, and progress towards goals. Your role will also involve developing and implementing strategies to enhance loan department efficiency, creating and maintaining business unit reports, and ensuring accurate entry and maintenance of loan data within core operating systems. You will manage the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain a strong controls infrastructure, analyze credit risk, and monitor compliance with loan documents and credit union policies. Furthermore, you will track and manage non-performing, underperforming, and delinquent loans, presenting "watch list" loans at monthly meetings.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in commercial lending credit and underwriting in the financial services industry, including commercial real estate.
  • Proven mentorship and development skills, with the ability to provide valuable performance feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to express ideas concisely and logically.
  • Experience in business and commercial lending operations with a financial institution.
  • Ability to deliver effective stakeholder presentations to peer and executive level audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to organize, analyze, and interpret data.
