About the position

The Manager of Practice Operations for the Hematology Oncology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the operations and practice functions of a large and complex medical practice. This role involves extensive interaction with medical staff, patients, and management, ensuring efficient patient flow, staff training, and operational excellence to enhance patient satisfaction and care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations and practice functions of a large complex practice or multiple practices.
  • Serve as a principal resource on all operational matters for assigned areas and consult with other practice managers on operational issues.
  • Partner with the Administrative Director and Medical Director to assign and oversee clinic space usage and monitor provider schedules.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and monitor effectiveness of interventions.
  • Oversee management of practice support staff and ensure adherence to service standards.
  • Develop and maintain systems to measure staff productivity and satisfaction indicators.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate skills development sessions for staff.
  • Hold regular team meetings and keep Directors informed of operations.
  • Work closely with the Managed Care Department to oversee referral management staff and implement revenue cycle policies.
  • Facilitate patient flow and ensure availability of supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Healthcare or Business Administration.
  • 8-10 years of related work experience required, with 1-3 years in supervisory/management roles.
  • Experience in hospital/health center operations and ambulatory management is essential.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean diagnostic techniques and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare information systems and patient management software.
