About the position

The Private Equity Fund Services (PEFS) Manager at Baker Tilly is responsible for overseeing the daily operations related to private equity client deliverables, including financial reporting, capital call and distribution calculations, and managing client relationships. The role requires expertise in private equity fund accounting, particularly with SBIC funds, and involves direct management of team members while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution of quarterly financial statements to investors of the Fund.
  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution of quarterly investor capital statements to investors of the Fund.
  • Oversee and review the preparation of schedules to support the general ledger balances reported in the quarterly financial statements.
  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution of capital call notices to investors, ensuring adherence to the Fund's Operating Agreement.
  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution notices to investors regarding proceeds, ensuring compliance with distribution provisions.
  • Understand and interpret terms set forth within a Fund's Operating Agreement.
  • Calculate and review complex waterfall structures and associated carried interest.
  • Calculate management fees owed to the management Company for investment and portfolio management services provided to the Fund.
  • Ensure timely payment of management fees.
  • Communicate directly with the Fund's General Partners and respond promptly to their requests.
  • Complete required regulatory forms to ensure compliance with debt covenants and other provisions.
  • Review investment agreements to confirm cash movements at the Fund level.
  • Interact with auditors and provide necessary reports/support during year-end audits.
  • Complete audit confirmations for investor audits.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and coaching to the team, including regular training support.
  • Participate in educational opportunities and maintain personal networks for professional development.
  • Demonstrate mastery of technical skills including Excel and other software utilized by PEFS.
  • Conduct ongoing team trainings and provide input for continued training opportunities.
  • Provide daily leadership across the team and organization.
  • Serve as an escalation point for internal team members and client relationships.
  • Assist in new business development objectives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Accounting or related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in performance management, training, talent acquisition, and retention.
  • 2+ years of SBIC fund experience preferred.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MSA) in Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting during an accelerated growth period.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Investran or other private equity accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and pay attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SBIC regulatory reporting (i.e., Form 468, Form 1031).
  • Knowledge of private equity accounting software.
