About the position

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Manager for Process Engineering & Pipe Stress Engineering at Giga Texas in Austin, TX. This role is pivotal in designing infrastructure systems that support the Facilities and Manufacturing teams. The manager will lead a high-performance team focused on chemical and utility projects, ensuring safe and reliable project delivery while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully deliver design packages for large, design build, and self-performed construction projects.
  • Provide oversight and direction for teams to ensure project success, including meeting project intent, design schedule, and construction schedule within approved funding.
  • Promote a work culture focused on safety, process safety, quality, and customer satisfaction by coaching, mentoring, and empowering team members.
  • Exemplify extreme ownership by demonstrating and encouraging clear communication, prioritization of business-critical work, and effective problem solving.
  • Provide sitewide strategic direction for factory layout planning and project staffing, bridging information silos across various programs and project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment among teams to help Tesla succeed in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain comity licensure within 6 months may be acceptable for exceptional candidates.
  • 8+ years of experience executing large industrial design and construction projects in a related industry (battery, chemical, semiconductor, oil & gas, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge and proven delivery on chemical, mechanical, process controls, and process safety scopes.
  • Ability to train and mentor colleagues on best practices in chemical process design, process safety, facilities layout and planning, and pipe routing and support strategies.
  • Willingness to get into detailed engineering as needed to complete objectives and lead teams through challenging projects.
