About the position

The Manager, Procurement/Sourcing - Supplier Risk at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the supply base across various categories. This role involves tracking potential risks, developing risk alerts, and leading crisis teams when significant risks arise. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive risk management initiatives and maintain the Supplier Risk program's roadmap, ensuring effective communication and reporting of risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and report initiatives to reduce risks within the supply base.
  • Track potential risks to supply and develop risk alerts based on severity.
  • Set up and lead crisis teams when significant risks arise.
  • Own and continually update the Crisis Command Playbook.
  • Operate as a supplier risk subject matter expert within the procurement team.
  • Own the roadmap of the Supplier Risk program and assess standards outlined in policies and processes.
  • Review trends in supplier risk and optimize the risk management approach.
  • Support the Global Procurement Supplier-Risk Program and lead supplier risk databases.
  • Conduct supply risk assessments for suppliers across various risk indicators.
  • Develop and lead in-depth supplier risk assessments and corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with teams to embed risk management solutions into sourcing strategies.
  • Identify key risks and lead scenario planning for effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Implement effective communication plans and deliver leadership updates.
  • Lead programs or projects to successful delivery, including direction and reporting.
  • Track industry trends and participate in discussions to share insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or Science.
  • Seven plus years of experience in global programs and project initiatives in procurement.
  • Two plus years of experience with internal and third-party risk programs.
  • Experience in Life Sciences, BioTech, or Pharma industry preferred.
  • Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Category Management preferred.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office tools, especially MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Project Management is desirable.
  • Experience leading projects/programs associated with supplier risk.
  • Ability to travel between 10-30% annually.
