About the position

The Manager, Product Design (UI/UX) role is responsible for overseeing the implementation of enterprise-wide IT projects while leading a team of product designers. This position focuses on ensuring successful project delivery, mentoring designers, and fostering a user-centered design approach. The manager will collaborate with various departments to prioritize projects and develop best practices for design processes, ultimately creating an environment where designers can excel.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, manage, mentor and inspire a team of product designers.
  • Lead the team effectively, providing design direction and pushing the quality of the work.
  • Focus the team on the user, ensuring the right problems are solved with the best solutions.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Contribute to the design team and design culture.
  • Provide direction and guidance to product design teams to meet timely deliveries.
  • Supervise the team on a daily basis in product design and development activities.
  • Address team member grievances and provide support as needed.
  • Work with the team to prepare product design specifications and integration documents.
  • Provide design solutions to meet cost-effectiveness and on-time deliveries.
  • Validate product designs, identify constraints, and provide corrective actions.
  • Implement process improvements to ensure product quality and productivity.
  • Interact with end-users to clearly understand product requirements and vision.
  • Identify resource requirements and perform workload assignments to meet product design goals.
  • Develop best practices to ensure smooth and continuous product development processes.
  • Assist in employee recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, and termination activities.
  • Provide training to team members to improve technical skills.
  • Recommend new technologies and tools to optimize product design processes.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot product issues in a timely fashion.
  • Build a positive and safe working environment for product design teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of combined IT and project/program management experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in UX/UI software design.
