About the position

The Manager of Product Development for Fare Management Systems is responsible for overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from inception through design and build to ongoing maintenance and eventual retirement. This role requires a strong understanding of IT disciplines and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to deliver various product lines that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. The position also involves risk management, strategic planning, and ensuring compliance with governance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees rigorous quality assurance processes to deliver reliability, performance, and safety objectives.
  • Manages staff workload and quality of work, addressing performance issues when needed.
  • Implements the product vision and strategy into the product development team's work.
  • Identifies potential risks to the product and develops mitigation strategies, escalating risks to leadership as needed.
  • Ensures product initiatives are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manages through change, adapting to shifting priorities and market conditions.
  • Translates strategies and policies into operational plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Delivers monthly or quarterly results, with performance subject to regular review against targets.
  • Collaborates with IT and business leaders to create and manage product roadmaps aligned with digital strategies.
  • Ensures team compliance with governance processes and adherence to technology architectures and methodologies.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors system support processes to maintain product quality and sustainability.
  • Understands customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape to inform product strategy and feature prioritization.
  • Manages day-to-day operations and motivates team(s) to achieve results; may be responsible for a budget.
  • Supervises a professional team of IT staff through all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Monitors and manages team activities and deliverables for adherence to relevant enterprise and departmental governance processes.
  • Analyzes and monitors effectiveness and efficiency of product(s), proposing and implementing improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience may be considered instead of a degree.
  • A minimum of 5 plus years of relevant technology experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience in managing projects and initiatives.
  • Strong experience with software engineering methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, etc.
  • Expertise in technology and ability to develop and implement enterprise product solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, C++, COBOL, etc.
  • Familiarity with vendor-specific platforms like Azure, Windows Server, or Linux.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Benefits

  • Eligible for telework (currently two days per week).
  • Competitive salary range of $156,275 - $184,456.
