About the position

The Manager, Product Safety & Toxicology at L'Oreal Research & Innovation is responsible for overseeing the safety evaluation, testing, and documentation of raw materials and finished formulations. This role requires a deep understanding of toxicology and safety risk assessment principles, as well as the management of a team of technical professionals. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with global regulations and to support product safety claims.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional direction and set objectives for the Product Safety team within SRCM Americas.
  • Lead and develop a team of technical professionals within the World Safety Evaluation organization.
  • Develop strong interfaces with US-based stakeholders, particularly R&I and Business divisions.
  • Defend the Group's safety policy and projects before relevant authorities and stakeholders.
  • Assist senior management on safety-related issues regarding company responses and safety protocols.
  • Manage the evaluation of raw materials and clinical safety trials on finished products.
  • Work towards harmonizing safety testing protocols and evaluations for products.
  • Monitor toxicology-related issues for local and global regulatory impacts.
  • Define objectives for the direct reporting team and enhance quality and service.
  • Represent L'Oreal in trade associations and monitor key safety-related issues.
  • Lead cross-disciplinary projects within the WSE Network.
  • Responsible for goal setting and career development of direct reports.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology or closely related field required.
  • 5-7 years of post-PhD experience in cosmetics/personal care/consumer healthcare industries required.
  • Experience in leading and managing high-performing cross-functional teams preferred.
  • Relevant product safety expertise in cosmetics, OTC, consumer health care, medical devices, dietary supplements, and/or pharmaceuticals.
  • Participation in technical & liaison organizations within the industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex safety-related issues.
  • Proven leadership skills with a strong results orientation.
  • Full proficiency in English; additional Spanish or French language skills a plus.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
