About the position

The Manager, Production at Shiseido is a pivotal role responsible for executing a weekly production plan while ensuring that all safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. This position requires adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Over-the-Counter (OTC) procedures, ensuring operational excellence through continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and team development. The Manager is tasked with ensuring that all operations are executed efficiently and effectively, without compromising safety and quality standards. In this role, the Manager will develop the capabilities of direct reports by providing mentoring, constructive feedback, and training. They will support Supervisors in the daily management of departmental activities and charter projects aimed at driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity. Participation in weekly Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) meetings is essential, where the Manager will identify and lead projects to enhance OEE performance. Collaboration with the Quality department is crucial for resolving finished goods non-conformances and implementing corrective actions. Additionally, the Manager will identify and implement ideas to improve Right First Time (RTFT) metrics. The Manager will maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including direct reports, the Quality department, and Planning teams, to ensure departmental objectives are met and procedures are followed. They will also work closely with Maintenance and Technical teams to identify projects that improve plant performance and plan line trials to support new product launches. Financial accountability is a key aspect of this role, requiring close collaboration with the Plant finance partner to ensure adherence to budget expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a weekly production plan while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP and OTC procedures in all operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and team development.
  • Develop capabilities of direct reports through mentoring and training.
  • Support Supervisors in daily management of departmental activities.
  • Charter projects to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Participate in weekly OEE meetings and lead projects for OEE improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement ideas to improve RTFT metrics.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Planning, Maintenance, and Technical teams to optimize production goals.

Requirements

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, GMP production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high-performing team and achieve results.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Ability to build and foster strong cross-functional relationships.
  • 4-year college degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including managerial roles required.
  • Experience in the cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
