About the position

The Supportive Measures Manager at the University of Utah's Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (OEO/AA) is responsible for overseeing the management of intake, case management, and supportive measures related to reports of discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation. This role emphasizes trauma-informed principles and involves supervising staff while collaborating with various campus offices to promote a culture of safety and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, supervise, and administer the OEO/AA's responsibilities for managing intake, case management, and supportive measures.
  • Collaborate with the Director and management team on the implementation of the overall organizational vision and mission of OEO/AA.
  • Oversee and administer the intake function for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation reports.
  • Provide information and options for supportive measures to individuals who have experienced discrimination or misconduct.
  • Market and promote OEO/AA services to the campus community and oversee training responsibilities.
  • Supervise the Program Support position(s) for the OEO/AA.
  • Use trauma-informed principles to work with parties involved in reports of discrimination and misconduct.
  • Maintain sensitive information in compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Exercise good judgment and make effective decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints and implementing quality improvements.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other campus offices and represent OEO in committees.
  • Ensure staff competency through educational programs and performance evaluations.
  • Engage in problem-solving for difficult situations and recommend policy changes as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes.
  • Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of experience in civil rights compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a similar field.
  • Experience with trauma-informed support services and conducting investigations related to sexual violence or civil rights issues.
  • Bilingual (fluent in both written and spoken languages) in addition to English.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, student affairs, higher education, law or related field.
