About the position

As a Manager on the Finance Integrated Program and Delivery Team at Capital One, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives that are transforming the company. This position requires collaboration with a team of passionate leaders who are experts in operationalizing and implementing complex, large-scale business strategies and solutions. You will oversee all phases of project delivery, from initial definition and planning through to problem-solving and implementation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, adeptly managing stakeholder and customer expectations while ensuring delivery momentum is maintained. This role demands a versatile individual who can adjust their approach to meet the unique needs of various stakeholder groups within a complex organizational structure. In this role, you will work autonomously on projects of varying scales that directly impact the company. You will be responsible for planning, designing, managing, executing, and documenting project plans to ensure successful delivery. This includes establishing structure to manage the work effectively, driving projects based on defined priorities, and ensuring that the scope of deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met. You will proactively identify and address risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating them as necessary, and leveraging your problem-solving skills to ensure that project plans deliver on their intended outcomes. Your communication skills will be critical, as you will need to tailor your written and verbal messages to suit different audiences, including executives. You will produce professional presentation materials that convey the big picture to leadership teams, enabling them to make informed decisions. Collaboration is key, and you will work with stakeholders at all levels to clarify and define business needs, requirements, and use cases, ensuring accountability and resolution of issues. Additionally, you will assist teams in developing program objectives and corresponding key results that align with the value delivered. Your organizational agility will be essential in adapting to changing demands, and you should possess a willingness to learn and an intellectual curiosity to better understand Capital One's business processes, identifying areas for improvement. A solid understanding of financial, data, and technology concepts will be necessary to achieve program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work autonomously on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on the company
  • Plan, design, manage, execute and document project plans to ensure delivery, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work
  • Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met while maintaining project plans and critical documentation
  • Proactively identify and remediate risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where necessary
  • Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skill by tailoring written and verbal messages to the appropriate level including an executive audience
  • Produce professional, thoughtful presentation materials to drive home the big picture for leadership teams to make well informed decisions
  • Display strong consulting and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholders across all levels to understand business problems
  • Assist teams in developing program objectives and corresponding key results to tie back to value-delivered
  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands
  • Show a willingness to learn and an intellectual curiosity to better understand Capital One's business processes
  • Apply understanding of financial, data, and technology concepts to program objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 years of Process Improvement experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or MBA degree
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience, including experience leading business transformation projects
  • Experience leading technology transformation programs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
  • Strong understanding of financial, banking, data, and technology concepts
