About the position

The Manager, Project Management is responsible for establishing and maintaining enterprise project management standards, tools, and methodologies at Sun Communities. This role involves overseeing the project management life cycle, monitoring project scopes, costs, schedules, and staffing, as well as mentoring project managers to ensure effective project planning and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and refine enterprise project management standards, templates, methodologies, and tools.
  • Lead efforts to document and share project management best practices.
  • Create and maintain transparent project reporting and resource utilization tracking.
  • Ensure clear and concise project documentation including proposals, meeting minutes, and status updates.
  • Coordinate team member selection and development, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct team member performance reviews and recommend compensation adjustments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective project scheduling standards and manage quality targets.
  • Address and resolve issues and conflicts within and across projects, including vendor issues.
  • Establish and maintain project initiation, execution, governance, and communication standards.
  • Track key project performance metrics to promote accountability.
  • Assign project management resources and prioritize efforts for efficient utilization.
  • Ensure appropriate communication occurs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project managers' ability to identify risks and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide support to keep projects on track with timelines.
  • Assist in maintaining the enterprise project roadmap and prioritizing future projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 1 year experience implementing enterprise ERP solutions.
  • 10+ years experience managing complex, cross-functional projects in a high-stakes environment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with functional and technical audiences.
  • Ability to comprehend and anticipate changes in business needs.
  • Ability to lead change through influence and navigate conflicts.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and advise senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple large, complex projects concurrently.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
