About the position

The Manager, Projects at CECO is responsible for establishing and managing the delivery of all projects through a Project Management Office (PMO) structure. This role focuses on improving project management maturity across the organization and ensuring that project-oriented initiatives conform to plans and expectations. The Manager will support and enable the organization's projects and programs, ensuring that the PMO adds value and aligns with the organization's strategy and goals set by executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates consensus among PMO stakeholders and organizational leadership around the PMO mission and vision.
  • Engages senior leadership and business partners to define the PMO mission, goals, and operating model, releasing the PMO charter after approval.
  • Leads the identification and development of PMO roles, team configuration, and recruitment to meet PMO goals.
  • Identifies and implements project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, and standards to support project teams.
  • Facilitates the development of plans and prioritization by leadership and governance.
  • Defines, manages, and directs the end-to-end PMO work effort, tracking expected benefits from business cases.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve project management best practices.
  • Leads the establishment of a project management community of practice for collaboration and best-practice sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Project & People Management.
  • Five to seven years in diverse roles with increasing leadership responsibilities across major global projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, writing, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to adjust strategies and approaches quickly as conditions dictate.
  • Combination of good process, conceptual, business analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management methodologies (PMI, PMBOK, agile).
  • PMP, CAPM, or related certifications desired.
  • Program management skills and experience, plus knowledge of project planning tools such as MS Project.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to develop and communicate the PMO vision.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in resource-constrained environments.
  • Strong business acumen and industry-specific knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies.
