About the position

This Manager role at AF Group is responsible for leading the Commercial Property underwriting department, focusing on building a culture of underwriting excellence and developing product and market strategies. The position involves providing technical direction, establishing quality standards, and monitoring the profitability of various lines of business including Property, Inland Marine, Ocean Marine, Crime, and Surety, with potential expansion into Equipment Breakdown and Cyber coverages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement complex product strategies and risk appetite for new and existing Commercial Property business.
  • Determine and prioritize core functions and features of products, coordinating with IT for enhancements.
  • Research and address emerging trends to improve workflow, mitigate risks, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Assess rate changes and develop solutions that balance rate needs with market conditions.
  • Monitor the Commercial Property line through compliance and underwriting quality audits, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Review referrals for higher-hazard and complex risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field required.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in Commercial Property insurance, including underwriting and product management.
  • Five years of increasing managerial responsibilities with demonstrated leadership abilities required.
  • Progress towards or completion of industry-recognized professional designations (i.e., IIA, AIU, CPCU, ARM) highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial property industry practices and regulatory procedures.
