About the position

The Manager of Public Relations for Global Diagnostics at Abbott Laboratories is responsible for leading the public relations and communications strategies for the diagnostics business. This role involves developing compelling messaging, managing media relations, and executing integrated PR campaigns to enhance Abbott's reputation and support business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a strong storyteller with experience in consumer, tech, and health communications, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Public Affairs to set and drive global PR strategy and storytelling for Abbott's diagnostics business.
  • Support the development and execution of external public relations strategies for key product launches and awareness programs in partnership with international colleagues.
  • Manage and execute global, integrated campaigns to maintain and enhance Abbott's leadership in diagnostics.
  • Develop strategy and provide counsel to business leaders and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Create multimedia content and social strategies to complement key PR campaigns.
  • Oversee the development of messages, press materials, and other communications tools.
  • Identify and anticipate issues, advising management on reputation and business impact.
  • Media train and coach business leaders on key message delivery.
  • Set metrics to measure the effectiveness of public relations efforts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, business, marketing or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, and/or communications with a deep understanding of external communications.
  • Experience working on thought leadership and corporate reputation programs.
  • Strong experience in developing compelling content and communications materials.
  • Consistent track record of excellent writing, communications, and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consumer, healthcare, and/or technology communications.
  • Experience working on PR programs and influencer/social media programs in countries outside the U.S.
  • Strong contacts and relationships with various media outlets.
  • Experience in crisis communication and anticipatory thinking.
  • Proven experience in leading digital, social media, and influencer projects.
