About the position

The Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Planning is responsible for overseeing the purchasing department's activities related to material procurement and production planning. This role involves planning requirements, selecting suppliers, awarding purchase orders, and ensuring documentation is maintained. The manager will also coordinate the development and execution of the master production schedule to meet customer demand while minimizing inventory levels. Strong collaboration with various departments is essential to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Purchasing Team and oversee purchasing department activities.
• Plan requirements for materials to be purchased and select the best possible sources.
• Award purchase orders and maintain all applicable documentation.
• Initiate purchase order change notices and follow up on open orders.
• Represent Purchasing in meetings and committees as needed.
• Coordinate the development and execution of the master production schedule.
• Assist with inventory planning and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and Site Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Purchasing/Planning/Supply Chain environment.
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing a team.
• APICS Certification is a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Exceptional Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and JIT principles.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle MRP systems.
• Knowledge of production planning and scheduling.
