About the position

The Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Planning is responsible for overseeing purchasing department activities related to material procurement and production planning. This role involves planning requirements, selecting suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring documentation is maintained. The manager will also coordinate the development and execution of the master production schedule to meet customer demand while minimizing inventory. Collaboration with various departments is essential to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing department activities related to the purchase of materials and production planning.
  • Plan requirements to be purchased and select the best possible sources.
  • Award purchase orders and maintain all applicable documentation.
  • Ensure purchase orders are entered into the system and initiate change notices as needed.
  • Follow up on open orders and represent Purchasing in meetings and committees.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of the master production schedule.
  • Assist with inventory planning and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and Site Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years in Purchasing/Planning/Supply Chain environment with applicable business experience.
  • 5+ years leading and managing a team.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Exceptional Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing and JIT principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics.

  • Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00
