About the position

The Manager of Purchasing (Space Systems) at Marotta Controls, Inc. is responsible for the tactical management of day-to-day procurement operations, ensuring the supply of materials and services meets organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. This role involves maintaining strategic supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and managing a significant purchasing portfolio while collaborating with other functions to optimize inventory levels and mitigate supply risks. The position also emphasizes employee development and performance improvement within a highly transactional environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day procurement operations and implement strategies for material and service supply.
• Maintain strategic supplier relationships and negotiate pricing.
• Monitor supplier performance and expedite responses to changes in demand or supply chain disruptions.
• Build a supply chain and utilize lean techniques for efficiency.
• Manage a $25M-$30M annual purchasing portfolio.
• Collaborate with other functions to meet inventory requirements and manage levels effectively.
• Balance supply risks with improvement opportunities.
• Resolve external and internal issues as they arise.
• Drive price reductions and hold suppliers accountable for delivery and cost targets.
• Implement a cross-product strategy to optimize procurement costs and lead times.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of sourcing, purchasing, planning, or supply chain experience.
• Knowledge of raw materials, machined components, and electro/mechanical components.
• Ability to develop dashboards, KPIs, and metrics.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering, or over 10 years of related experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Relevant industry experience.
• Industry relevant certifications (i.e. LEAN, CPIM, APICS, Six Sigma).
• Advanced Degree (MBA or MS).
• Understanding of ERP, MRP systems (Epicor preferred).
