About the position

The Manager, Purchasing and Stores at Georgia-Pacific is a leadership role focused on both strategic and tactical purchasing and inventory management. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of purchasing professionals and managing procurement operations within a facility, ensuring effective sourcing and supply chain strategies that optimize costs and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead direct reports, fostering an inclusive environment and building a high-performing team.
  • Leverage the team's comparative advantages to maximize results for Georgia-Pacific.
  • Connect the team to the SS&P vision and operations vision, emphasizing the impact of their roles on achieving strategic goals.
  • Contribute as a key member of the SS&P organization and the Containerboard & Cellulose leadership teams, owning designated strategic business responsibilities.
  • Organize the team to execute standard work processes and achieve disciplined operations in sourcing execution.
  • Manage and be accountable for Containerboard & Cellulose spend against defined buying channels, category strategies, and financial controls.
  • Oversee procurement operations in a facility with high levels of spend in high volume, multi-commodity environments.
  • Develop strong internal and external partnerships, aligning with strategic initiatives and supply chain strategies.
  • Lead a team of procurement professionals to excellence in stewardship.

Requirements

  • Proven supervisory experience in purchasing and inventory management.
  • Track record of creating value through strong working relationships with diverse customers.
  • Demonstrated principled entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to build capabilities that deliver an optimized total cost of ownership to operations.
