About the position

The Manager of Purchasing and Supply Chain at Ipsen International Inc. is responsible for developing and executing effective procurement strategies to ensure the company's growth and success. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and implementing strategic procurement plans that align with company objectives. The manager will also mentor the purchasing team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize procurement activities and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new vendor and supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate best available costs with current approved suppliers.
  • Implement strategic procurement plans aligned with company objectives and budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
  • Mentor and develop the purchasing team.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers for optimal terms.
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and quality assurance teams.
  • Initiate and develop supplier relationships for collaboration and performance improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against KPIs and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify new suppliers or opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Maintain records of all new vendors and suppliers qualified for services.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting procurement practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
  • Collaborate with inventory management teams to optimize inventory levels.
  • Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Hire, mentor, and administer performance counseling to direct reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Prior supervisory or people leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership skills to grow and develop talent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for complex contractual agreements.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in business software and tools, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, CPM) is a plus.
