About the position

The Manager - Purchasing at Schaeffler is responsible for implementing and executing purchasing strategies, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This role focuses on managing plant-level purchasing metrics, developing supplier relationships, and optimizing resources to support both internal and external customers. The position requires strong leadership in purchasing and supplier management functions, particularly within the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute established purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Own and manage plant-level purchasing metrics focusing on cost savings, supply chain risk mitigation, quality, and delivery.
  • Develop and strengthen the supplier base and purchasing partnerships, overseeing new supplier onboarding.
  • Plan, prioritize resources, and initiate improvement actions to support customers while optimizing budgets and processes.
  • Lead the plant in executing purchasing and supplier-management functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technical Field, or Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Purchasing Leadership position within a plant environment.
  • Self-motivated and driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of the automotive industry and business acumen.
  • Experience in purchasing, negotiation, and supplier management.
  • SAP Purchasing/ERP experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and grow subordinates.
