About the position

The Purchasing Manager at Nordson Corporation is responsible for developing and implementing strategic purchasing plans that align with the company's business objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of purchasing principles, negotiation tactics, and supply chain management, particularly within the electronics industry. The Purchasing Manager will oversee vendor relationships, manage the purchasing process, and ensure compliance with regulations while driving continuous improvement in purchasing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term purchasing strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality products, and timely delivery.
  • Conduct effective negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Oversee the entire purchasing process, from identifying needs to finalizing contracts.
  • Implement strategies to optimize purchasing costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
  • Lead and monitor the execution of tactical purchasing activities, including issuing purchase orders and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Track and expedite shipments, resolving supplier disputes and issues.
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth purchasing processes.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance based on key metrics such as quality, delivery time, and pricing.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions and risks.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize data analytics to track purchasing performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant purchasing regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the electronics industry.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing principles, negotiation tactics, and supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic purchasing plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with third-party manufacturers and large suppliers.
  • Proficiency in using purchasing software and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
