About the position

The Indirect Purchasing Manager at Power Solutions International (PSI) is responsible for coordinating all indirect procurement activities for the company and its subsidiaries. This role involves collaborating with various departments to implement effective purchasing strategies that ensure optimal pricing and value. The position requires a presence in the Wood Dale, IL office two days a week and focuses on managing indirect material spending, vendor relationships, and customs processes while supporting projects aimed at cost improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support specific projects/initiatives aimed at improving PSI's costs and cultivate strong relationships with internal groups and indirect suppliers.
  • Manage all transportation, consulting, and other indirect material spending for PSI, working with internal customers to understand functional needs.
  • Cultivate and support vendor relationships related to projects and initiatives for Supply Chain as needed.
  • Help identify vendors, establish vendor standards and SLAs, and monitor and evaluate performance with a focus on timely delivery, quality, and managing costs.
  • Manage the tariff strategy at PSI on a total cost basis and its impact on PSI's customers.
  • Manage the customs process at PSI including the duty drawback process.
  • Approve all indirect purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Develop and implement worldwide strategies that will provide superior service and minimize risk at the best cost possible.
  • Conduct specific competitor analysis to identify industrial leaders and possible benefits for PSI.
  • Compile, generate, and disseminate various key performance indicators, reports, analyses, and tasks as assigned and/or required.
  • Utilize analytical concepts and tools to identify issues, resolve problems, and support corporate metrics.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Logistics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing.
  • Leadership experience in manufacturing Supply Chain operations with the ability to drive and execute long-term strategies.
  • Proven expertise in global supply chain competencies including purchasing, capacity planning, supplier quality, and logistics.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-depth understanding of Epicor or similar supply chain ERP technology (SAP, JDA, Oracle, Infor Global Solutions).
  • Experience with Tariff Management.
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, and IATF-16949.
  • Fluency in another language, especially Spanish or Mandarin.
  • Solid working knowledge of best practices, planning and purchasing systems.
