About the position

The Purchasing Manager at UNC Health is responsible for leading the development and implementation of procurement strategies to optimize the purchasing process for supplies, services, and capital purchases. This role involves providing administrative leadership within the purchasing department, collaborating with the HCS Purchasing Director, and ensuring a customer-focused culture while minimizing costs. The position requires a seasoned professional to streamline and automate purchasing processes and coordinate with distribution and logistics teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a customer-focused work environment that attracts and retains high-caliber team members.
• Develop policies and procedures to maximize departmental efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring proper internal controls are in place.
• Ensure standardization decisions occur with minimal disruption to patient care or administrative activities.
• Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the UNC Health Care System.
• Utilize innovative techniques to develop and implement purchasing strategies to maximize the effectiveness of the acquisition process.
• Work collaboratively with internal team members and end users to develop and implement procurement strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Health Administration or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in a purchasing/procurement environment, working directly with vendors/internal customers.
• Five (5) years of management experience.
• Strong working knowledge of business law concepts and legal aspects of contract administration and purchasing best practices.
• Ability to formulate operational metrics and reporting.
