About the position

The Manager, R D IT Systems at Qpex Biopharma is a specialized, hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining and supporting the technology infrastructure that enables cutting-edge research in the company's offices and laboratories. This position requires a strong understanding of IT systems, laboratory technologies, and scientific software, along with business and communication software. The manager will work closely with scientists and lab personnel to ensure optimal functioning of all technology, hardware, software, and data systems to support research and innovation. This role also involves acting as the main liaison between Qpex IT and Shionogi IT, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for scientific software and lab equipment, including data acquisition systems and instruments.
  • Collaborate with scientists to ensure smooth integration of laboratory equipment with IT infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot IT issues within laboratory settings, including instrumentation interfaces and data connectivity.
  • Manage and maintain workstations and cloud services used in office and laboratory environments.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software across workstations and lab-specific devices.
  • Ensure company data security, backup, and recovery protocols are properly implemented.
  • Resolve computer, mobile device, and peripheral device related problems in supported areas.
  • Act as the main Qpex IT technician lead and first point of contact for helpdesk support, project support, and training support.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve user inquiries promptly.
  • Maintain Qpex Help Desk ticket records and document root causes and resolutions.
  • Provide hardware and software evaluations as needed.
  • Set up and maintain SharePoint and server sites for communication and storage of company information.
  • Assist with onboarding of new users and logistics process of asset inventory counts.
  • Create technical knowledge-based articles and maintain documents within SharePoint as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of technical work experience in IT support of a research organization or pharmaceutical R&D.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Experience in installation, set-up, and troubleshooting of laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other technical equipment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating Windows Server and maintenance of items in Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Acrobat usage and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge to support SharePoint Online site owners and members.
  • Understanding of remote computing technologies including VPN and Terminal server.
  • Experience with helpdesk ticketing systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft MCP (MS Certifications) preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting collaboration tools such as WebEx, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines, including after hours and weekend support.
