About the position

The Builder Sales Manager will work closely with National Sales Managers to collaborate with the sales team and agency partners to achieve growth objectives in the Residential New Construction (RNC) channel. This position is crucial for implementing and executing builder strategies across all brands, ensuring alignment with sales KPIs, organizational objectives, and channel/market objectives as set by senior management. The role provides high-level exposure to the RNC channel and covers the Southeast region, specifically supporting the water heating division. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for achieving national strategic growth objectives, which include revenue, margin, expense management, and other objectives assigned by the Director of Sales. The successful candidate will focus on growing profitable sales through both existing and new accounts, leading and managing customer relationships, and developing and executing sales and marketing strategies tailored to customers in the RNC channel. Additionally, the Manager will develop annual business plans for individual builders and new/existing markets, assisting the regional sales team in executing these plans while continuously monitoring and evaluating their results. The Builder Sales Manager will also work closely with supporting groups, such as plumber support and the demand generation team, to increase revenue and support the RNC sales strategy. Identifying underperforming markets and developing appropriate business strategies to mitigate poor performance will be key responsibilities. The Manager will monitor and report on local market programs and pricing conditions, collaborating with internal resources to maintain a competitive position and maximize division earnings. Regular input and feedback on products, programs, and overall customer service will be provided to Sales and Marketing leaders and other senior members of division management.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve national strategic growth objectives including revenue, margin, expense management, and other objectives as assigned by the Director of Sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Field Sales, Business Development, or related experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the building industry.
  • Ability to create and execute strategic plans.
  • Ability to build consensus on key division strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, planning, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in an independent manner.
  • Must be capable of analyzing and interpreting industry-related regulations/journals.
  • Ability to develop customer and area-specific marketing/sales growth plans.
  • Demonstrated skills in business planning and customer analysis required.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving, resource management, and time management skills.
  • Strong communicative skills (e.g., business correspondence and professional customer correspondence).
  • Must be capable of traveling extensively, including driving or flying at least 2-3 days a week, around 60% of the time.
  • Experience with B2B in two-step distribution channels.
