About the position

The Accounting Policy Manager at Bank of America is responsible for developing and maintaining the company's accounting policies and procedures for regulatory and financial reporting. This senior-level role focuses on interpreting regulatory reporting requirements and guiding the application of accounting and regulatory reporting rules across the organization. The position involves high visibility and collaboration with various levels of management, external auditors, and key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for regulatory and financial reporting.
  • Interpret regulatory reporting requirements and provide guidance to report owners.
  • Research and analyze technical accounting and regulatory rules, documenting key conclusions.
  • Review new products and complex transactions for compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting regulations.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements, leading in-house training sessions.
  • Advocate on behalf of the bank with accounting standard setters, regulators, and industry organizations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in accounting with progressive leadership roles at a major financial institution.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to understand and dissect complex transactions.
  • Extensive knowledge of US regulatory reporting requirements in the banking and financial services industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact at various organizational levels.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA or Masters in Accounting or MBA.
  • Regulatory and Accounting Policy experience for a large financial institution.
  • Experience with a major public accounting firm.
