About the position

The Manager Research Senior Associate - Equity role at Wilshire involves conducting in-depth research on equity strategies to identify optimal investment options for clients. The position requires serving as a subject matter expert, contributing to research papers, and engaging with clients and internal teams to provide valuable insights. The associate will articulate Wilshire's research process and competitive advantages while collaborating with investment teams and mentoring junior members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on equity strategies and provide ongoing qualitative and quantitative analysis of managers/strategists under coverage.
  • Source new ideas and meet with portfolio managers, strategists, and other investment professionals, documenting meetings and providing written research opinions and evaluations.
  • Produce all collateral and deliverables associated with assigned coverage, including meeting notes, evaluations, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Represent the firm to the external investment community during conference calls, in-person meetings, and on-site visits.
  • Interact with Wilshire colleagues firm-wide to service clients' needs and participate in client and prospect meetings.
  • Support Wilshire's reporting and monitoring process.
  • Participate in and contribute to Wilshire's Investment Strategy Committee meetings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned area of coverage.
  • Lead and execute ad hoc manager research-related projects.
  • Collaborate with other members of the investment team and contribute to investment recommendations and decisions made in client portfolios.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, one-team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; business and finance-related majors preferred.
  • 2 years of investment manager research, institutional or HNW consulting experience preferred.
  • 5 years of overall investment industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a writing sample may be requested.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical ability required.
  • Client presentation experience preferred.
  • Team player and client-centric.
  • Experience with factor modeling desired.
  • CFA Charter or CAIA designation preferred.
  • Familiarity with Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Microsoft Access, and EVestment Alliance preferred.
