About the position

The Manager, Retail Operations (MRO) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dispensary, ensuring compliance with medical cannabis regulations, and managing staff training and development. This role involves direct supervision of dispensary activities, inventory management, and maintaining patient confidentiality and security. The MRO acts as a liaison between various stakeholders and is tasked with implementing policies that promote a high-performance culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the dispensary including patient consultations and product administration.
  • Ensure compliance with the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program rules and regulations.
  • Supervise dispensary staff training and education in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Monitor all point of sale transactions and manage patient-specific logs.
  • Oversee inventory management including receipt, storage, auditing, and ordering of new supplies.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies and patient-staff conflicts.
  • Develop and implement privacy policies and procedures to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, management, law enforcement, and the local community.
  • Direct department managers to achieve operational goals while ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Establish methods to comply with public health law and quality assurance plans.
  • Manage policies for retesting of returned products and reporting requirements for adverse events.
  • Assist in implementing security systems for tracking and record-keeping of products.
  • Foster a company culture emphasizing quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement HR policies and programs to support company initiatives.
  • Conduct investigations and respond to employee relation issues.
  • Create organizational development and employee training programs.
  • Conduct performance reviews and monitor employee productivity.
  • Recruit and retain quality staff and manage talent acquisition.
  • Develop compensation and benefit programs to motivate and reward performance.
  • Ensure employee safety, wellness, and health.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of management experience with a focus on employee relations and talent management.
  • 3 years of experience managing a retail operation.
  • Hands-on experience in human resources activities, both operations and analysis.
  • Passionate about retail operations including staffing, compliance, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills in a high growth environment.
  • Operations management experience including production oversight.
  • Excellent consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build relationships with senior executives and prepare reports for leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the cannabis industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of BioTrackTHC or similar inventory tracking software.
