The Manager, Revenue Accounting at Confluent plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the revenue recognition and order-to-cash processes. This position is essential for ensuring financial accuracy and compliance while driving process improvements, system implementations, and policy influences to enhance the evolution of revenue accounting as the company scales for continued growth. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting, the Manager will be responsible for presenting revenue results to leaders in Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This role requires collaboration with various cross-functional business partners, including Sales Operations, Technical Revenue, Cloud Product Management, Engineering, Accounting Transformation, and Accounts Receivable. In this capacity, the Manager will ensure the accuracy of revenue recognition, commissions accruals, and related accounting in compliance with ASC 606, ASC 340, and internal accounting policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting, particularly within a global, growing software company that operates with both on-premise software revenue and Software as a Service (SaaS), preferably usage-based SaaS. This role is designed for an experienced CPA with a minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience, including at least four years in revenue-specific roles. The Manager will lead the US global revenue close and reporting process, review key controls, reconciliations, and various forecast and reporting deliverables. They will also propose significant process improvements, including automations and system enhancements, and lead the quarterly revenue forecasting process in partnership with FP&A team members. Additionally, the Manager will analyze new product, service, and go-to-market strategies for their accounting implications and develop methods for automating the accounting for those sales. Mentoring and developing the US Revenue Accounting Team and Shared Services Revenue Accounting team will also be a key responsibility, ensuring both teams work cohesively for monthly closes and reporting. Furthermore, the Manager will manage Revenue SOX compliance and act as a subject matter expert in accounting for usage-based SaaS contracts, on-premise term licenses, and related professional services and education.
