About the position

Orchard Place is seeking a Manager, Revenue Cycle Operations to oversee and enhance the daily operations of our accounts receivable and billing teams. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with legal and health insurance policies, expediting revenue cycle processes, and maintaining financial accuracy through collaboration with other departments. The position is crucial for revenue cycle optimization and requires specialized expertise in Medicaid billing, particularly within Iowa. As a manager, you will lead and develop the accounts receivable team, driving process improvements and fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise the accounts receivable and billing teams, including training, guiding, and evaluating team performance.
  • Ensure all billing and collection procedures comply with legal, health insurance, and data privacy standards to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the revenue cycle process, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the billing and collections processes, including processing outpatient claims and negotiating with health insurance providers.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on accounts and collections to the CFO and senior management to support financial transparency and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless billing operations and act as a resource for financial policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding, billing, and regulatory standards and ensure these are integrated into the billing system.
  • Participate in organizational committees and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial report accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of billing experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise in Iowa Medicaid billing is mandatory; general accounting experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in billing and financial software, advanced Excel skills, and knowledge of coding and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with Medicaid contracts and non-profit billing systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Avatar PM or similar financial systems is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
