About the position

The Manager, Safety Data FOQA at Spirit Airlines is responsible for overseeing the daily administration, security, and operation of the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) program. This role involves managing data collection and analysis, ensuring the proper functioning of FOQA software and hardware, and promoting the airline's safety culture through presentations and interactions with key stakeholders. The position requires collaboration with various departments and external entities to identify trends and enhance flight safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily administration of the FOQA program.
  • Ensure aircraft data downloading, analysis, and software management are completed as required.
  • Interface with ALPA pilot union safety committee members regarding FOQA.
  • Promote Spirit Airline's Safety Culture through presentations and interactions with stakeholders.
  • Monitor the data collection process of the aircraft fleet in conjunction with Maintenance Planning.
  • Perform data analysis and root cause analysis to identify adverse events or trends in flight operations.
  • Coordinate the development, verification, and validation of aircraft-specific event definitions.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of FOQA software, hardware, and associated peripherals.
  • Chair the FOQA management team monthly meeting and communicate significant trends to stakeholders.
  • Screen data for accuracy, integrity, and validity.
  • Program FOQA software to identify adverse trends.
  • Contribute FOQA information to various internal communication channels.
  • Present FOQA information to internal and external groups, including senior management and governmental agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Aviation, science, or engineering field or equivalent experience required.
  • FAA Certification: Commercial/ATP preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Part 121 or Part 135 operations required.
  • Experience in quality control, maintenance, operations, safety, or a combination thereof preferred.
  • Computer programming and statistical analysis experience preferred.
  • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate aircraft manuals and company manuals.
  • Strong ability to utilize MS Office Suite and maintenance and operations software.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work with FOQA program preferred.
  • Experienced capabilities in reading and understanding Airbus manuals.
  • Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies and procedures.
