About the position

The position within Genentech's Research and Early Development (gRED) Portfolio Strategy and Planning team serves as a strategic partner to navigate the future of drug development and create novel therapeutics for patients. It offers a unique opportunity to impact research and development from initial research through Phase II across various therapeutic areas, engaging with senior stakeholders from multiple organizational functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of portfolio-wide insights for drug development, including timelines, milestones, and risk assessments.
  • Develop portfolio insights to guide near and long-term planning by senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to translate strategy into actionable tactics and execution.
  • Support internal data generation and external data acquisition to enhance analytics.
  • Synthesize competitive insights for the gRED senior leadership team to inform R&D practices.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to project team leaders, assessing clinical development options and presenting risk assessments.

Requirements

  • PhD/MD in a scientific field, or a master's in mathematics/statistics/engineering, or an MBA.
  • 0-2 years of work experience for Manager level; 2-5 years for Sr. Manager level post-advanced degree.
  • Experience in management consulting, market research, market planning, investment banking, competitive intelligence, business development, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background knowledge in the biotech R&D environment.
  • Experience in data science, public health, health economics, or statistics.
