About the position

As the Social Media Manager for Pearson Higher Education's B2B Marketing team, you will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing authentic relationships with higher education faculty and administrator audiences. This position requires you to own and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aimed at increasing brand awareness and establishing Pearson as a thought leader in the higher education sector. You will be responsible for managing various social media channels and platforms, ensuring that our online presence is robust and that we engage our audiences with content that reflects Pearson's commitment to helping individuals realize their educational aspirations. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Pearson's corporate brand and marketing teams to develop, implement, and oversee the B2B social media strategy, ensuring that we meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and uphold brand standards. You will manage the editorial strategy, content plan, and social media calendar for Pearson Higher Ed B2B's LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Your collaboration with the Content Marketing team will be essential in creating inclusive, diverse, and compelling social media content that not only increases brand awareness but also demonstrates thought leadership and engages our core audiences. You will monitor engagement metrics and other relevant data to continually optimize social media tactics that drive audience engagement and foster positive sentiment. Staying current with trending topics in higher education will be crucial, as you will identify opportunities for Pearson to amplify its voice in important conversations. Additionally, you will be expected to promote a transparent, accessible, and inclusive culture within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices to enhance marketing campaigns across the board. As a Social Media Manager, you will also be responsible for expanding Pearson's reach into new social media platforms, such as TikTok and Pinterest, and serving as a consultant for the broader B2B Marketing team, providing insights on strategy and best practices. This role is ideal for someone who is not only passionate about social media but also possesses a strategic mindset focused on performance and results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee Pearson Higher Education's B2B social media strategy, ensuring KPIs are met and brand standards are upheld.
  • Own and manage the editorial strategy, content plan, and social media calendar for Pearson Higher Ed B2B's LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Content Marketing team to create and post inclusive, diverse, and compelling social media content that increases brand awareness and engages core audiences.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and optimize social media tactics to drive audience engagement and positive sentiment.
  • Stay current with trending topics in higher education to identify opportunities for Pearson to engage in relevant conversations.
  • Promote a transparent, accessible, and inclusive culture within the team.
  • Monitor and respond to audience engagement on social media accounts.
  • Stay updated on social media technologies and best practices.
  • Create and execute a plan for expanding into new social media platforms like TikTok and Pinterest.
  • Serve as a social media expert consultant for the broader B2B Marketing team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in social media marketing, particularly with B2B brands.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience managing organic social media campaigns, including design, tracking, and measurement.
  • Experience designing and executing paid social campaigns through Meta and LinkedIn preferred.
  • Familiarity with core social platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and interest in learning more about TikTok and Pinterest.
  • Experience using social management and reporting tools such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Sprout, or Hubspot required.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to develop, optimize, and measure social programs.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Salesforce marketing suite preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with video content creation for social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices as they relate to social media.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
