About the position
The Manager of Software Development Engineering at Zillow will lead the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) team, focusing on developing an authentication and authorization platform that scales across Zillow's extensive web presence. This role involves coordinating with various product, technical, and business teams to implement mobile strategies that enhance user experience across Zillow's applications. The position requires strong leadership and technical expertise in mobile software development, particularly in authentication practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the authentication and authorization mobile strategy for Zillow.
- Coordinate with product, technical, and business teams to align with the company's vision.
- Collaborate with mobile teams to implement, design, and deliver features for mobile applications.
- Drive the development of a mobile authentication and authorization strategy in partnership with principal engineers and product teams.
- Set clear team and individual goals to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Mentor and grow high-performing engineering teams.
- Deliver high-quality products on time and implement best engineering practices.
Requirements
- 2+ years in a management or tech leadership role.
- 5+ years of mobile software development experience as an individual contributor or team lead.
- Strong understanding of industry authentication and authorization practices, particularly OAuth.
- Experience with iOS and Android best practices around authentication.
- Strong experience partnering with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and growing engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Kotlin, Swift, Java, and Objective-C.
- Experience with Typescript, GraphQL, and/or React is a plus.
- Ability to create and negotiate a mobile authentication and authorization strategy.

- Experience building libraries, SDKs, and shared components for other teams.
