About the position

The Manager of Software Development at The Pokémon Company International is responsible for overseeing the design and development of software applications. This role involves directing a team of engineers, developing a roadmap for software projects, and ensuring best practices in software development are followed. The manager will lead multi-team design sessions, mentor staff, and drive a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the work of engineers to ensure best practices in software development.
  • Develop a future state roadmap for the software portfolio and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Lead a team of Software Engineers in collaboration with other technology teams and business product owners in an agile environment.
  • Perform design and analysis for deliverables and lead multi-team design sessions.
  • Recommend solutions considering costs, business needs, and system impacts.
  • Lead analysis and architectural design across platforms for end-to-end solutions.
  • Define organization-wide standards, processes, and guidelines through committees or projects.
  • Mentor current and future leaders, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Drive a culture of change, excellence, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of relevant experience, with at least one year of management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in team and project management.
  • Experience in delivering large-scale design projects with cross-functional interaction.
  • Familiarity with modern UI development frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js) and web technologies (HTTP, HTML, JS, CSS).
  • Strong customer focus and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment and resolving organizational issues.
  • Creative analytical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
