The Manager, Software Engineer position at General Motors involves leading a team of software engineers within the Energy Engagement software engineering team.   • Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
  • Manages engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
  • Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
  • Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
  • Leads team to meet targets.
  • Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
  • Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in web application, services development, mobile development, native and preferably ReactNative.
  • Expertise in Java, Quarkus or Spring Boot including front-end technologies like ReactJS and micro-frontends.
  • 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture, documentation and design of new and existing systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
  • Experience working with multi-tier production software systems utilizing HTTP APIs (REST, GraphQL) and backend datastores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the tech stack, debug code and tests.
