About The Position

The Manager, Software Engineer position at General Motors involves leading a team of software engineers within the Energy Engagement software engineering team. This role focuses on delivering innovative web and mobile products that enhance customer experiences in the energy sector. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage engineering execution, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet business objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in web application, services development, mobile development, native and preferably ReactNative.
• Expertise in Java, Quarkus or Spring Boot including front-end technologies like ReactJS and micro-frontends.
• 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture, documentation and design of new and existing systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• Experience working with multi-tier production software systems utilizing HTTP APIs (REST, GraphQL) and backend datastores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch).
• Demonstrated ability to understand the tech stack, debug code and tests.
• Enthusiastic about the opportunity of impacting the engineering culture from the bottom up.

Responsibilities

• Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
• Manages engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
• Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
• Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.
• Leads team to meet targets.
• Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
• Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
