About the position

The Manager Software Engineering 1 position at Northrop Grumman involves leading a team of software engineers to provide quality engineering support for various programs and initiatives within the Mission Planning and Decision Support Operating Unit. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and the establishment of a world-class software and digital technologies organization, while fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. The manager will be responsible for ensuring the team's performance and engagement, as well as participating in engineering activities related to key programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software engineers to ensure quality engineering support to programs and new business pursuits.
  • Collaborate with peers across multiple organizations to achieve engineering goals.
  • Foster the establishment and maintenance of a world-class Software and Digital Technologies organization.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance.
  • Build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Participate in engineering activities related to the InSITE Program and other relevant programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant DoD experience or 9+ years of relevant DoD experience without a degree.
  • Active Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) clearance.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating the implementation and delivery of sophisticated software systems in support of Government customers.
  • Previous experience in people and/or technical leadership roles.
  • Experience with Cloud-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Must be an existing Northrop Grumman employee or qualify for a currently-open technical position within Northrop Grumman in Rome, NY.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with multiple subcontractors concurrently.
  • Knowledge of AFRL/RI contracting process and procedures.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or IAT Level II equivalent per DoD 8570.01.
  • Program Management experience working with NASIC, NSIC, AFRL, ACC, or DIA.
  • Business development and/or proposal experience.
  • Experience leading a team in the Engineering department of a matrix-like organization.
  • Experience leading engineering teams using Agile processes and continuous integration/continuous deployment processes and tools.
