About the position

The Manager Software Engineering 2 - Sentinel Emulation/Simulation Lead position at Northrop Grumman involves leading a team of systems and software engineers to develop and support an end-to-end Sentinel emulator/simulator. This role is crucial for early hardware/software integration for the Integrated Flight Control (IFC) weapon system functionality. The candidate will collaborate with various teams to plan, develop, integrate, and test weapon system emulation and simulation capabilities while also managing staffing needs and supporting recruitment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of systems and software engineers for the Sentinel emulator/simulator.
  • Collaborate with the DevStar architecture team and IFC requirements team.
  • Assess staffing needs and work with team leads to address them.
  • Support recruitment activities including creating requisitions and conducting interviews.
  • Establish personal program and functional goals with program software manager and technical leads.
  • Perform performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  • Provide career development recommendations and mentoring to team members.
  • Acquire necessary computers, equipment, and tools for the team.
  • Generate training plans based on program and team needs.
  • Promote high standards for engineering development and accountability to company values.
  • Coach, support, train, and motivate team members for high performance.
  • Perform software engineering technical tasks as defined by the program support team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience or 4 years with a Master's degree or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Minimum 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • 1+ years of experience coordinating with multiple teams and organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using Real Time Component Framework (RTCF).
  • Experience with emulation/simulation.
  • Experience with individual contributor performance assessments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to operate independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience leading Software Engineering teams.
