About the position

The Manager, Software Engineering for the ASM Feature Team at Palo Alto Networks is responsible for leading a team of software engineers to develop user-facing security products that provide critical cybersecurity insights. This role emphasizes coaching, team empowerment, and the implementation of agile processes tailored to the team's needs. The manager will drive projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with product management and engineering goals while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support, coach, and develop team members to empower high output.
  • Define and tailor a flexible agile process for the team.
  • Drive projects from requirements to complete design and implementation.
  • Collaborate with product management and UX to translate complex datasets into user-friendly experiences.
  • Represent the team in departmental roadmap planning and advocate for engineering-driven initiatives.
  • Continuously seek ways to impact the broader engineering organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of industry experience as a software engineer and manager in a SaaS business, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience providing technical and managerial leadership for teams building enterprise features on a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
  • Informed opinions about building and maintaining systems handling data at scale.
  • Deep understanding of Agile development and its application in all development aspects.
  • Ability to balance shipping new products with addressing technical debt and infrastructure investments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with role-based access, SAML integrations, and feature flag frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills to advocate for team initiatives and collaborate with other departments.
