About the position
The Manager, Software Engineering, Back End (Bank Tech) at Capital One is responsible for leading a team of developers in the design and development of key components within a new core platform aimed at modernizing the bank's technology infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve business operations, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The position requires a strong background in software engineering, cloud computing, and people management, with a focus on utilizing cutting-edge technologies to solve complex business problems.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, along with various AWS tools and services.
- Mentor other members of the engineering community and participate in technology communities.
- Stay updated on tech trends and experiment with new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- At least 2 years of people management experience
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree
- 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 5+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
