About the position

The Manager of Software Engineering, Back End at Capital One is responsible for leading a team of developers in creating innovative cloud-based solutions that address regulatory needs and enhance customer experiences. This role involves overseeing a diverse portfolio of technology projects, mentoring team members, and staying updated with the latest tech trends to drive transformation within the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
• Create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
• Stay on top of tech trends and experiment with new technologies.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
• Utilize programming languages and various AWS tools and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 2 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree
• 7+ years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
• 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 5+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
