About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering at Capital One, you will lead a team of developers in creating innovative back-end solutions that meet regulatory needs. This role involves overseeing a portfolio of technology projects, mentoring team members, and collaborating with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that empower customers financially. You will also stay updated on technology trends and may be involved in coding and evaluating code.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
• Create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
• Share passion for technology trends and mentor other engineering community members.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
• Utilize programming languages and technologies such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 2 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree
• 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
• 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 5+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
