About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for the Camera Team at Snap Inc. will lead and mentor a team of mobile developers to enhance the camera experience for users. This role involves developing strategies, establishing roadmaps, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products that improve visual communication and content creation. The manager will also provide technical mentorship and foster a growth-oriented environment for team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 10+ mobile developers across Android and iOS platforms.
• Develop the team's strategy, establish a roadmap, and set measurable objectives.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Operations, Data Science, Engineering, and key executive stakeholders.
• Assess technical tradeoffs in major decisions and provide strong technical mentorship.
• Foster a growth-oriented environment through regular feedback and performance management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience working in software engineering.
• 2+ years managing mobile software engineering teams.
• Expertise in mobile development languages, specifically Objective C/Swift for iOS and Java/Kotlin for Android.
• Strong product sense and collaborative abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Proven record of delivering performance-critical mobile applications.
• Experience with media capture and processing on Android or iOS platforms.
