About the position

At Capital One, we are seeking a Manager of Software Engineering specializing in Full Stack development to lead a diverse portfolio of technology projects. This role is pivotal in driving a major transformation within the company, where you will be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment that thrives on solving complex business problems. As a Manager Software Engineer, you will oversee a team of developers who possess deep expertise in distributed microservices and full stack systems. Your leadership will be crucial in creating innovative solutions that meet regulatory needs and enhance customer experiences. In this position, you will share your passion for technology by staying updated on the latest trends, experimenting with new technologies, and actively participating in both internal and external technology communities. Mentoring other members of the engineering community will also be a key aspect of your role. You will collaborate closely with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys. Utilizing a variety of programming languages and tools, including JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Go, and various AWS services, you will lead your team in developing high-quality software solutions. Your experience with container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as your knowledge of both RDBMS and NoSQL databases, will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • At least 2 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
