About the position

As the Manager, Software Engineering (Mobile) at SIDEARM Sports, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of talented engineers dedicated to the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms. This position requires a collaborative approach, as you will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, user-friendly applications that enhance the sports fan experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mobile app development, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for sports technology. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire mobile application development lifecycle, from concept to deployment. You will lead, mentor, and manage a team of mobile app engineers, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality applications. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing best practices and coding standards within the development team, conducting regular code reviews, and providing constructive feedback to team members. You will also be tasked with identifying and resolving technical challenges and roadblocks, ensuring that the team remains focused and productive. Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies will be essential to ensure that our applications remain at the forefront of innovation. You will develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement and operational efficiency, managing project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation effectively. Your ability to collaborate with various stakeholders will be key in defining and prioritizing features and enhancements that align with our mission of powering the connection of fans to the brands and experiences they love.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mobile app engineers to deliver high-quality applications.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize features and enhancements.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Establish and enforce best practices and coding standards within the development team.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges and roadblocks.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our apps remain at the forefront of innovation.
  • Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven 6+ years of experience in mobile app development for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Swift, Kotlin, and Java.
  • Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and best practices.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, third-party libraries, and APIs.
  • Knowledge of cloud messaging APIs and push notifications.
  • Proficiency with code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Familiarity with cross-platform development frameworks such as React Native or Flutter.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
