About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for Operations at SoFi will lead a team focused on building innovative support platforms, including Chatbot and IVR systems. This role emphasizes technical leadership, team growth, and the implementation of best practices in software development, aiming to enhance the company's operational excellence and software delivery processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance and support.
  • Define and communicate team objectives, set performance goals, and conduct evaluations.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training programs for team enhancement.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Manage project priorities and resolve conflicts for efficient execution.
  • Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and promote best practices in software development.
  • Work closely with product managers and designers to ensure alignment throughout the development process.
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams to promote effective communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop strategies for operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong technical background in software development with proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies.
  • Proven experience as a Software Development Manager or in a technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing software development teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Kubernetes, Datadog, CI/CD, Java/Kotlin, Typescript, Spring Boot, and GraphQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of AI and usage of LLMs.
  • Expertise in Python.
  • Proficient in platform monitoring using tools like DataDog.
  • Understanding of SLOs and SLIs.
  • Experience in Kotlin and Java.
  • Understanding of database concepts.

Benefits

  • Base pay range: $153,600.00 - $264,000.00
