About the position

The Manager, Software Engineering at Availity is responsible for overseeing the analysis, design, programming, debugging, modification, and delivery of software for commercial and end-user applications. This role involves building relationships to meet client needs, improving processes for customer satisfaction, and managing a team of software developers, data engineers, and quality engineers. The Manager will also analyze technology trends and their impact on the business, ensuring effective project management and team development in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 7-10 people including Software Developers, Data Engineers, and Quality Engineers.
  • Facilitate Scrum Master responsibilities by leading daily stand-ups for each team.
  • Manage software development teams using .NET and React tech stack.
  • Work with internal and external teams to deliver solutions based on the proposed roadmap.
  • Lead overall delivery responsibilities and proactively work to reduce roadblocks.
  • Promote Agile practices across multiple teams and ensure participation in daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and code reviews.
  • Define and track team metrics, managing the percentage of time dedicated to new development and maintenance.
  • Monitor efforts to eliminate duplicate design and reduce technical debt.
  • Analyze technology trends and assess their impact on product delivery.
  • Coach software engineers on their responsibilities and career aspirations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of relevant technical and business experience in IT systems development management in a technology and/or healthcare environment.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams and products in an Agile environment.
  • Background in software development and/or architect solutions.
  • Prior experience in a Scrum Master or Project Manager function.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients/vendors.
  • Proven understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Proven understanding of web development methodologies, application design, navigation, and information architecture.
  • Proven understanding of data modeling, relational databases, data structures, and design.
  • Ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
