About the position

The Software Engineering Manager for the Routing Team at Symbotic will lead a group of engineers in developing advanced routing algorithms that enhance the productivity of mobile robots within the company's AI-powered robotic technology platform. This role involves managing the software development lifecycle, fostering a collaborative team environment, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced Agile setting.

Responsibilities

  • Own the complete software development lifecycle, including defining, prioritizing, designing, and leading implementation and testing of new features.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team and ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met.
  • Manage department resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing to maintain a best-in-class engineering team.
  • Hold regular 1:1s with the team to promote individual growth and development.
  • Promote and instill best practices in software engineering development.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on planning, design, and development for releases.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a diverse group of software engineers, helping them to grow technically and professionally.
  • Help attract and develop top-tier talent through recruitment activities and workforce development.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (i.e. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
  • 10 years of experience in Software Development
  • Minimum of 5 years spent as a team lead or manager of software development
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable code implemented on schedule
  • Experience leading teams in an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented design
  • Experience with C++ or .NET technologies including C#, WCF and Entity Framework preferred
  • Experience with path planning algorithms and multi-agent control
  • An understanding of API design and architecture, distributed backend systems and microservices, or containerization/virtualization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
