About the position

The Engineering Manager for Cribl Search will lead a new, remote-first, diverse, and inclusive team of software developers focused on enhancing the Cribl Search product. This role emphasizes enabling customers to efficiently find and analyze their operational data across various storage mediums without the need for expensive data replication. The manager will be responsible for building a high-performing team, ensuring technical excellence, and fostering a customer-first mindset while collaborating with other leaders and product management.

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, mentor, and grow a cross-functional scrum team of engineers.
  • Set and maintain technical excellence in product development, focusing on design, robustness, and code quality.
  • Lead the team in defining, designing, testing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining the Cribl Search stack.
  • Foster a customer-first mindset by aligning team efforts with customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to drive alignment between Search teams and cross-functional efforts.
  • Establish strong partnerships with product management and operations to refine and execute the Search roadmap.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of progressive management experience in hiring, leading, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
  • Expertise in high-scale, distributed systems architecture and experience with high-volume data processing systems.
  • Exposure to the observability space, either as a user or by building observability tools.
  • Direct experience building applications using recent versions of node.js; experience with TypeScript is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English.
  • BS, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar, or equivalent practical experience; 8+ years of industry experience, including at least 4 years in a technical leadership role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud-based or distributed systems environments.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and scrum practices.
